Chaos generators: Their optimization, electronic implementation and
applications

Abstract
Chaos generators have been implemented with different kinds of analog and digital circuitry. From their mathematical model, they can be optimized by applying evolutionary algorithms. From their electronic implementations, integrated circuits can be optimised to accomplish the required values imposed by the ideal mathematical models. That
way, this talk shows the optimization of the coefficients and nonlinear functions of a mathematical model, and the optimization of integrated circuits for the electronic implementation of chaos generators by applying meta-heuristics. It is shown that the entropy and Lyapunov exponents can be optimized by meta-heuristics, which search spaces can be reduced from the analysis of the bifurcation diagrams. In this manner, different chaotic time series are generated with different values of entropy and Lyapunov exponents. Those chaotic time series can be associated to the behaviour of some kinds of human diseases, so that the prediction of those series can help to mitigate some biomedical problems. The methods that can be used for chaotic time series prediction are still under investigation and traditional ones are for example: methods based on neural networks, ANFIS, support vector machines and so on. Other applications of chaos generators are also reviewed for noise generators and autonomous robots, showing that their best performance is found from the optimisation of their indicators like the entropy and Lyapunov exponents.
